SUMMARY:Medicine Buddha Puja
DESCRIPTION:About Medicine Buddha Puja \n\nIn Person Only\n\nPujas are rituals in which consecrated offerings – such as food\, water\, light and incense – are made to an enlightened being for the sake of creating conditions for progress on the spiritual path\, as well as removing obstacles. These offerings are made alongside prayer and chanting. \nThe seven Medicine Buddhas\, attainers of bliss\, strongly prayed for the temporal and ultimate happiness of yourself and all sentient beings. They vowed that their prayers would be actualized during these degenerate times when the teachings of Shakyamuni Buddha are in decline. As the buddhas’ holy speech is irrevocable\, you can wholly trust in their power to quickly grant blessings to help all sentient beings in these degenerate times\,” Lama Zopa Rinpoche instructs  “If you pray to Guru Medicine Buddha\, you will quickly accomplish all that you wish. Just hearing the holy name of Guru Medicine Buddha and the sound of his mantra closes the door to rebirth in the suffering lower realms. It is written in the scriptures that you should not have a two-pointed mind (doubt) with regard to these benefits”. \nHow can I join?\nJust turn up!

SUMMARY:Nagarjuna's Commentary on Bodhicitta
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we embark upon a 3-month exploration of this inspiring text. Guided by Geshe Tenzin Namdak\, we will delve into Arya Nagarjuna’s poetic instructions that help guide the committed practitioner in developing Mahayana Buddhism’s most revered mind\, the mind of Bodhicitta. \n  \nNagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta\n\nCourse Details\n\nDates: September 9th – November 18th\, 2025\nSchedule: Tuesdays\, 6:30-8:30 PM (UK)\nFormat: In-person & Online\nLocation: Jamyang London Buddhist Centre\, Kennington\nTeacher: Geshe Tenzin Namdak\n\nRegister Now \n\n  \nAbout the Author\nArya Nagarjuna (2nd-3rd century) is widely regarded as the second Buddha and the trailblazer of the Madhyamika school of Buddhist philosophy. His coming was prophesied by Shakyamuni himself as the teacher who would appear when the karma of beings was ripe\, to expound and clarify the Buddha’s profound teaching on emptiness. \n  \nAbout the Text\nIt is rare to find a classical text that exhibits such a well-balanced and coherent structure as the Bodhicittavivarana. Nagarjuna’s Commentary on Bodhicitta explains the two bodhicittas (conventional and ultimate)\, the two truths and interdependence\, and delves into approaches for realizing emptiness. \n  \nAbout the Teacher\nAfter completing his university studies in Hydrology\, Geshe Namdak worked as an environmental researcher in the Netherlands. He began studying Buddhism at Maitreya Institute and was eventually ordained by His Holiness the Dalai Lama before completing the 20-year Geshe degree at Sera Jey monastic university in India\, as well as the traditional one-year Vajrayana study program at Gyume Tantric College. He is now Resident Teacher of Jamyang London Buddhist Centre. \n  \nSign Up Now

SUMMARY:Solitary Hero Yamantaka Initiation
DESCRIPTION:Yangten Rinpoche at Jamyang\nA rare opportunity to receive Vajrayana teachings in London\nVen. Yangten Tulku Rinpoche (Lobsang Tenpai Gyaltsen) is a highly respected Gelug lineage teacher\, recognised as a reincarnate lama at the age of 10 and a close disciple of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. After completing his Geshe Lharampa degree at Sera Mey Monastery and advanced tantric studies at Gyuto Tantric College\, Rinpoche has served His Holiness directly at Dharamsala for many years\, while also teaching internationally. \nThis visit is a special opportunity to connect directly with Rinpoche and to receive a Vajrayana initiation — potentially the first for many students of Jamyang . \n  \n\nPrerequisites and Commitments \nVenerable Yangten Rinpoche has kindly advised that students make every effort to attend the initiation in person. At the same time\, understanding that Jamyang has a global community\, he has generously agreed for the initiation to be offered online. \nRinpoche recommends that those taking part should already have at least one or two years of solid Dharma study\, so they can fully benefit from the empowerment. \nThis is a Highest Yoga Tantra empowerment and the commitments given will be the daily Six-Session Guru Yoga practice and a short daily Yamantaka sadhana—precious tools to deepen practice and safeguard samaya. Students should also be aware that receiving the initiation creates a teacher–student relationship with Yangten Rinpoche\, which is considered a profound and positive step on the path. \nThese guidelines are not meant to encourage nor discourage anyone from receiving the empowerment\, but rather to honour the integrity of the practice and the kindness of the teacher in making the empowerment available\, and empowering you to make an informed choice. \n\nEmpowerment Overview\n???? Dates & Times: \n\nFriday 5 September | 6.30–8.30pm (Preliminary Lam Rim teachings\, Yamantaka Initiation)\nSaturday 6 September | 6.30–8.30pm (Yamantaka Initiation)\n\n???? Location: Jamyang Buddhist Centre\, London\n???? Online: Livestream via Zoom (details sent via email ahead of the Initiation) \n\nAbout the Initiation\nThe empowerment being conferred is the Solitary Hero Yamantaka Initiation\, one of the most profound practices in the Gelug tradition. \nYamantaka\, the wrathful aspect of Manjushri\, is especially associated with clearing obstacles and dispelling hindrances to Dharma practice. For this reason\, it is often taken as a first Vajrayana initiation\, creating a powerful foundation for deepening one’s study and practice. \nReceiving this blessing under the guidance of Yangten Rinpoche is a rare and precious opportunity for students beginning their tantric path. \nIf students wish to source their own deity image please\, as painted by Rob Preece\, visit Mudra \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nSupport the Event\nIf you feel inspired\, you may also wish to become a sponsor for this rare visit. Sponsorship helps Jamyang cover the costs of hosting Rinpoche and makes the teachings accessible to all. \n???? Sponsor this Event \n\nRegistration\nRegistration for this teaching and empowerment is now closed. \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n\nAccessibility + Monastic Registration\nWe believe everyone should have the opportunity to receive the Dharma. If you’d like to attend but need support with the donation\, please email gateway@jamyang.co.uk – Monastics are also invited to attend free of any recommended donation using the same email contact.

SUMMARY:Nagarjuna's Letter to a Friend
DESCRIPTION:Join us as we embark upon a 3-month exploration of this famous text. Guided by Geshe Tenzin Namdak\, we will delve into Arya Nagarjuna’s poetic instructions that convey the entire Mahayana path with unusual clarity and memorable imagery.  \n  \n  \nAbout the Author\nArya Nagarjuna (2nd-3rd century) is widely regarded as the second Buddha and the trailblazer of the Madhyamika school of Buddhist philosophy. His coming was prophesied by Shakyamuni himself as the teacher who would appear when the karma of beings was ripe\, to expound and clarify the Buddha’s profound teaching on emptiness. \n  \nAbout the Text\nLetter to a Friend is a poem composed by Nagarjuna as a letter of advice to his friend\, King Gautamiputra\, who presided over the powerful kingdom of Satvahana. The Letter is a concise and comprehensive introduction to the entire path and practice of Buddhism. Widely studied by both lay and monastic\, the instructions therein are of special interest to those who wish to take up spiritual activity while continuing to live and work in society; they are meant to convey the whole meaning of the Dharma to the ordinary person in a language and style that are easy to understand. Despite its short length (123 verses)\, it covers the whole Mahayana path with unusual clarity and memorable imagery; thus it is widely quoted by Tibet’s great masters and scholars in the many commentaries they have written on the Buddhist path. \n  \nSchedule\n\nStarting on 6th May and running until the 22nd July\, 2025\nTuesday evenings | 18:30 – 20:00\n\n  \nSign Up Now
